The defamation case surrounding Daphne Caruana Galizia's blogs took a new twist yesterday when One News journalist Charlon Gouder asked the police to investigate allegedly slanderous remarks made by the columnist.

A One News crew was following Ms Caruana Galizia and relatives of hers when she left the court house on Tuesday after being charged with defaming Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera in a series of blog entries on her personal website.

She had an exchange with the crew and Mr Gouder's lawyers later asked the police to investigate remarks she made about him.

In their letter to the police, lawyers Andy Ellul and Vince Micallef, also complained that the columnist had made defamatory comments about him in her blog. They said this was tantamount to harassment.

They referred mainly to a blog entry filed by Ms Caruana Galizia in the afternoon.
