The Nationalist Party today reiterated its call to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to dismiss, without further delay, Peter Paul Zammit from his post on the CHOGM task force

Addressing a press conference this afternoon, deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami said following the Data Protection Commissioner’s findings that a personal file requested by Mr Zammit, a former police commissioner, ended up leaked to Malta Today, Dr Muscat had no other option but to act.

"The personal data was leaked under the watch of Peter Paul Zammit. How can anyone keep this person anywhere close to any form of security," Dr Fenech Adami asked.

Asked to react to Mr Zammit's declaration that he did not leak the file, Dr Fenech Adami said Mr Zammit should explain his actions.

"He requested the file. The file was found at his office but he did not pass the information. It is up to Mr Zammit to say how the contents of the file ended up in the hands of an editor," Dr Fenech Adami said.

Dr Fenech Adami said that while labour's deputy leader Toni Abela wanted the head of three people on a plate because they sent a former minister an e-mail on public information, he was silent on the leaking of personal information on an officer from the Office of the Police Commissioner.

“Dr Abela should be ashamed of himself for trying to deprive three young families from their income just because they are Nationalist sympathisers,” Dr Fenech Adami said.
