John Camilleri is the new president of Premier League club Floriana FC.

"I am honoured to have this opportunity to serve Floriana FC," Camilleri, who was a member of the Greens' committee in the past, said in a statement issued by the club yesterday.

"I'm taking up this new post with a sense of commitment and sacrifice and with the aim of working hard to uphold the glorious history of Floriana FC."

Earlier this week, Floriana named Irishman Roddy Collins as their new coach.

The Greens elected a new committee last month at the end of the club's annual general meeting during which a set of initiatives for the new season were discussed.

Floriana had a poor 2008/09 campaign. Despite reaching their pre-season objective of playing in the top-six group, they were never in the running for the honours and finished sixth in the Championship Pool, a staggering 26 points behind champions Hibernians.
