Private sector full-time employment increased by 6,600 in April when compared to the same month in 2014, according to the National Statistics Office.

There were 124,770 full-timers working in the private sector and 44,070 in the public sector. Full-time employment in the public sector increased by 429 in April.

The NSO said the number of people registered as full-time self-employed rose by 581 compared to April 2014.

Full-time employment for males and females went up by 3.4 per cent and 6.1 per cent respectively over 2014 levels.

Administrative and support service activities contributed mostly to the increase in employment.

The registered unemployed dropped by 1,723 people to reach 5,568.
