A number of Jesuit priests have come out publicly against Spring hunting, declaring they will vote No in the referendum on Saturday.

The priests are Jimmy Bartolo, Josef Briffa, Edgar Busuttil, George Camilleri, Joseph Cassar, David Cefai, Michael Debono, Pierre Grech Marguerat, Vincent Magri, Patrick Magro, Alfred Micallef, Paul Pace, John Scicluna, Karl Vella and Alfred Xuereb.

They said they would vote no for destruction of creatures, no to a pastime which is not sustainable and no to environmental harm.

They also want the people to enjoy the countryside without fear.
