Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino has been elected from the seventh district with more than double the number of votes he won in the 2003 general election.

Dr Pullicino Orlando was the focus on a major attack by the Labour Party in the days just before the general election was held, amid claims of wrongdoing in the way land belonging to him in Mistra was granted an outline development permit for development into a nightclub/disco. He strongly denied the charges.

The publicity appears to have not done the MP any harm. The 1,312 tally of first count votes he achieved in 2003 grew to 2,824 on Saturday. And he is also expected to be elected from another district.
