A 21-year-old man from Tarxien was this afternoon jailed two years after he pleaded guilty to several counts of pickpocketing.

Inspector Saviour Baldacchino said Wayne Camilleri, who has a drug problem, had cooperated with the police.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera told Mr Camilleri to take this as a lesson.

"You are young and take it as a lesson... I don't want to see you here again," she said.

She recommended to the prison director to help him get out of his drug problem.
