A Nigerian man was jailed for six months after he admitted to making use of a forged Italian passport to try and catch a flight to Rome on Sunday.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman heard Friday Uwangho, 27, plead guilty to the possession of the fake passport and making use of it.

Mr Uwangho, an immigrant who lived at the Ħal Far Tent Village, was stopped at the airport. He will be deported.

Police Inspector Geoffrey Azzopardi prosecuted.

Lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar represented the accused.
