Marsalforn kiosk owner Victor Refalo was sentenced to two months in prison today after being found guilty of having threatened Żebbuġ deputy mayor Daniel Cordina last February.

Sentence was handed down this morning. At the start of the sitting, Chris Said, legal counsel to Mr Cordina, said that his client was willing to withdraw his complaint if Mr Refalo guaranteed that he would not speak to him.

Mr Refalo, who is a former Labour Party councillor in the same locality, refused.

The incident was triggered following reports on works being carried out next to Refalo kiosk, about which Marsalforn’s administrative committee was not informed.

The Żebbuġ deputy mayor went on site and noticed that he was being followed by Mr Refalo, who kept on following him until he arrived home where he said he was verbally threatened by Mr Refalo.
