Stephen Borg, of Birkirkara, was jailed for eight months and fined €600 after being convicted by a court of procuring and selling drugs.

Five grams of heroin were found on March 2, 1998 in a raid on a garage in Mgr Mifsud Street, Birkirkara.

The accused, 21 at the time of the crime, had admitted to the police.

The court in considering sentence noted reports by a Social Worker and a Probation Officer who said the accused was now 'clean' and was very different from the time when the crime was committed.

The court noted that the accused had a conduct sheet which was practically clean, but said it could not ignore the fact that he had sold drugs on a number of occasions.
