A thief who tried to steal a police inspector’s car and then threatened him at the police station was today jailed for three years.
Simon Peter Chircop, 46, of Attard, was jailed and fined €916 after admitting to the attempted theft of a car belonging to Police Inspector Pierre Micallef Grimaud at St Julian’s at around 5pm on August 20 last year.
Mr Chircop was allegedly spotted trying to break into the car by another police officer who immediately arrested him. When he was being interrogated at the St Julian’s police station, he threatened Mr Micallef Grimaud.
