Joseph Pace 24 of Senglea was jailed for a month after he was convicted of punching another man, causing him a permanent facial injury. He was also found guilty of violating the conditions of a previous court sentence.

The incident happened at Senglea Point on June 19, 2009.

The court heard that two gangs got involved in a fight which was sparked by an argument between two men over a girl.

The accused and the victim, who were different groups, intervened to calm down matters, but got involved in the fight.

In her judgement, Magistrate Doreen Clarke noted that the accused had already been conditionally discharged for crime-related crimes and had ignored opportunities for reform.
