A man who slightly injured a traffic policeman during a chase was jailed for three years today.

Charles Goouder was arrested on June 3 following a chase in Gudja.

A traffic policeman had noticed that he was driving a stolen quad-bike. He signalled him to stop, but he drove on. The policeman called backup and gave chase.

When the police motorcycle and the quad came side by side, the quad swerved into the police motorcycle, causing it to crash.

Units of the mobile squad were quickly on the scene and stopped the quad-bike, arresting Gouder and a woman who was with him.

The 41-year-old admitted the charges against him, including injuring the policeman, stealing the quad bike, driving dangerously while his licence was suspended, stealing car stereos and violating the conditions of a previous release.

The court also heard that he has a drug problem.
