Mel Gibson and girlfriend welcome a baby girl

Actor Mel Gibson and his Russian girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva are celebrating the birth of a daughter, according to media reports. Gibson, 53, announced in May that his girlfriend was pregnant. Celebrity website RadarOnline.com said 39-year-old Grigorieva gave birth on Friday, a few weeks early. There were no further details.

Qatari firm in talks to make Prophet Mohammad film

An epic film about Islam's Prophet Mohammad backed by the producer of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Matrix" is being planned with the aim of "bridging cultures." Singer Cheryl Cole's debut solo album joined her first solo single at the top of the British pop charts on Sunday.
