A group of 13 students, named after the 13th letter of the Greek alphabet, is merging problem solving with art and design in an exhibition at the University.

NU, a group of students currently reading for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) in Digital Arts, have set up the exhibition as part of their final year dissertation at the Media Faculty’s studio.

The name of the group – NU – phonetically resembles the word ‘new’ which is in line with the idea of showcasing new concepts.

It incorporates a number of different projects ranging from photography, illustration and animation to web design and conceptual art. Apart from this, the students are also in charge of the branding, design, PR and marketing of their works, both on a personal as well as on a collective level.

The undergraduate course which they follow focuses on the practice and theory of art and design within a digital environment. Over three years, it embodies the study of traditional and contemporary practices within today’s context.

The course prepares students to come up with innovative ideas and be able to solve problems through art and design. They learn about re-search, collaboration and the creation of artistic content which pushes them to be experimental and step outside of their comfort zone.

The exhibition at the University will remain open until tomorrow, from 10am to 5pm.

Updates will be posted on the Instagram page @weare_nu and the Facebook page @weare.nu.2018.
