Italian President Giorgio Napolitano arrived in Malta this afternoon on a two-day state visit. He is accompanied by Mrs Napolitano.

They were greeted by Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici.

A formal welcoming ceremony will be held tomorrow morning at the palace Square, Valletta.

The Italian President will have talks with President George Abela, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. He will visit places of interest and have a meeting with the Italian Military Mission in Malta.
