Italian lawyer Giovanni Calcaterra has been remanded in custody after having been accused in court of fraud, falsification of bank documents and trafficking of counterfeit banknotes with two Maltese.

He pleaded not guilty to the crimes, which allegedly took place in Malta and Italy over a number of years.

The court turned down a request for bail and ordered seizure of all the lawyer’s property in Malta.
