Rosario Caruso a 40-year Sicilian resident in Swieqi was accused in court today of drug trafficking, aggravated possession of cannabis and breachoing bail conditions.

He was remanded in custody, with the court upholding a request by defence counsel Giannella de Marco and Gianluca Caruana Curran for a recommendation that he be kept in the forensic unit of Mt Carmel  Hospital.  

The arraignment followed the discovery of six kilos of cannabis in a house in St Julian’s. Another five kilos were found hidden close to the house.

Mr Caruso was also arraigned on drug trafficking charges in September.
