A Community Technology Learning Centre was opened on Saturday at the Down Syndrome Association's headquarters in Valletta to enable its members to undergo computer training in their bid to find a job.

Speaking during the opening - during which Malta joined other countries to mark World Telecommunications and Information Society Day - Communications Minister Austin Gatt said proper use of ICT could help people compensate for their disabilities, help them integrate more successfully in everyday activities and live better.

Accessibility to information technology was important because it contributed towards the inclusion of vulnerable people, Dr Gatt said.
