A new IT system which will give general practitioners access to medical tests made at Mater Dei Hospital will be launched next week, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne said in Parliament this afternoon.

He said that through the system, doctors who send their patients for a range of tests at Mater Dei, including blood tests, x-rays and MRIs would have access to the results as soon as they are put into the system.

They will also have access to electronic case summaries, patient entitlements and appointments.

Dr Fearne said a pilot project had gone well and 200 had been registered.
