It's true what they say, from the mouths of ... the truth emerges. Saviour Balzan made the point on Monday morning, on TVAM, that Labour's campaign is going to be based exclusively on Joseph Muscat. Just to prove that he's not omniscient, he also said that the PN one is going to be all about Lawrence Gonzi, ignoring utterly that we've had quite a bit of Simon Busuttil recently, to put it mildly.

I don't imagine he did it in order to prove Balzan right, but I'm told that Muscat went a long way to doing just that at the opening rally on Monday evening.

The grand finale of the event was a filmed roll-call of Our Heroes Of The Past, quite clearly aimed at putting Our Joseph up alongside these worthies on their pedestals. You know what I mean, you list the eminent, prompting people to tag you onto the list almost automatically, one unbroken line of historic names ending with Joseph Muscat, whose achievements are legion, but not quite just yet. Unless you count campaigning against joining the EU, then becoming an MEP and then lusting after the Presidency of the EU, without the hint of a blush, as an achievement, that is.

It really is all about him, isn't it? I wonder what Louis Grech thinks about that, having been press-ganged into dirtying his hands in the local mill, only to be made second fiddle to Young Joey.

Just as an aside, or end-bit, if you like, it's good to see that quite a few thousand upon thousand euro are being channelled Labour's way (the slick, albeit frothy, campaign they're running costs many of them) Now perhaps will be spared their usual paranoia about Big Business propping up the PN, and about how Labour are the underdogs, poor puppies.
