Israel re-opened its border freight crossings with the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, an Israeli official said, two days after they were shut in response to a rocket attack.

Israeli Defence Ministry official Peter Lerner said trucks carrying fuel, livestock, stationery for schools as well as food and medical supplies would enter the Gaza Strip through the Nahal Oz, Kerem Shalom, and Sufa commercial crossings.

Israel and Hamas agreed on a ceasefire in June. It calls on both sides to stop cross-border violence and on Israel to ease a blockade on the Gaza Strip that was tightened after the Islamist group seized control of the territory more than a year ago.

The truce has largely held, although Gaza militants have occasionally fired rockets into Israel and the Jewish state has periodically closed its borders with the coastal enclave.
