Traffic arrangements for the Isle of MTV concert at the Granaries in Floriana on Tuesday are as follows.

From 11 a.m. on Tuesday, route buses will be diverted from Sarria through to St Anne’s Street.

Transport Malta, through service provider Arriva, will be extending the service past 1 a.m. for certain routes.

A special ticket may be bought beforehand, for €2.5O, covering the journey to Floriana and back to respective villages.

ACCESS TO SQUARE  

People approaching the Granaries from Blata l-Bajda can access it from the direction of St Publius Church while people accessing the square from the Valletta Bus Terminus can access it exclusively through The Mall Garden.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Monday from 6 a.m. to Thursday

St Publius Square, St Publius Street, and Sarria Street, Floriana

Triq Mauro Caruana, Pope John XXIII Square and its adjacent streets and J. Lopez will be closed for parking.

Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Mall, V Bugeja Street,  Pope John XXIII Square and its adjacent streets, the parking Area opposite the Phoenicia Hotel ballroom in Great Siege Road and St Anne’s Street between E S Tonna Square and St Thomas Street, Floriana.

ROAD CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS

With immediate effect St Publius Street is closed to traffic until Friday.

Monday from 6 a.m. to Thursday

Triq Mauro Caruana, Pope John XXIII Square and J. Lopez will be closed for traffic.

Tuesday from 11 a.m. until Wednesday at noon

Sarria Road in Floriana will be closed for buses.

Tuesday from 4 p.m. until Friday at 1 a.m.

Vehicular traffic from Marina Street, Pieta’ in the direction towards Floriana will be diverted through Independence Road, Pieta’.

Sa Maison Road and Hay Wharf will be open to one-way traffic from Floriana towards Pieta’.

MCP Carpark will be operating as usual but from 4 p.m. on Tuesday exit will be via the tunnel on the 6th floor leading to the Valletta Waterfront to alleviate traffic jams.

Special Needs arrangements have also been made. There will be an elevated platform with a ramp as specified by the architect in consultation with the Kummissjoni Nazzjonali ghal-Persuni b’ Dizabilta’.

The area reserved will be to the left of the stage (facing) and transport will be able to stop within metres of the entrance in Sarria Road.

The space is limited and will be operated on a first come first served basis.  Amenities for the comfort of the users of this area will also be available.

Apart from transport arrangements, the Malta Tourism Authority is in consultation with the health and safety authorities and NGO’s to ensure that the event can be enjoyed in the best and safest manner. 

It thanked all involved in the organisation, namely, Transport Malta, The Malta Police Force, MHEC and MDH Staff, the CPD, The Malta Red Cross, St John Ambulance, EFRU, St. John’s Rescue Corps, and all the local councils concerned.

APPEALS

The MTA encouraged use of public transport to avoid congestion and parking issues.

It said the residential areas of Floriana will be patrolled by wardens and police, and all patrons were strongly encouraged to make use of the toilet facilities provided.

The authority encouraged all attending this concert to respect the residents of the area and their properties, and refrain from disturbing the peace in any manner.
