The Isle of MTV concert tomorrow promises to be the biggest this year, according to executive producer Jane Frazer.

Featuring Metrostation, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and Esmee Denters, the show, the third to be held in Malta, will be broadcast across Europe in September and is also expected to be screened in Asia and South America.

Ms Frazer said now that the concert had established itself as one of the major annual events for MTV, interest was shown by all its worldwide networks to air it.

During a visit to the Granaries in Floriana yesterday afternoon, Peter Portelli, permanent secretary for tourism and sustainable development, urged those who planned to attend to use public transport or follow the traffic arrangements.

Sarria Street, Floriana will be closed to traffic from today until noon on Friday and traffic will be diverted from St Anne, or E.S. Tonna Street, to Vincenzo Bugeja Street and past the police headquarters and the Curia.

Tomorrow buses will continue operating until 1 a.m. and the fare will be €1.16 to all locations. The bus lane from Pietà to Valletta has to be kept clear on the night of the concert and the area in front of APS Bank, in St Anne Street, will be designated as drop-off points for those travelling to the concert by bus or coaches.

The Park and Ride service will run as usual and extra shuttles will be arranged depending on the demand.

Entry to the Granaries will be from the back, through E.S. Tonna Street or the Mall.

Three medical posts will be set up in the area, one next to the Catholic Institute, another under the Independence Monument and a third next to St Publius church. The latter will also serve as a lost persons' reference point.
