Last week I was in Stockholm for a business meeting. One evening, at around 11 p.m., I was zapping through the channels on my hotel TV and found that MTV Sweden was transmitting the Isle of MTV concert that happened earlier this year in Malta.

I enjoyed watching it – it was very well filmed – peppered with shots of lit-up churches and even a few shots taken from the Floriana bell towers with the bells in the foreground. Needless to say, I was quite satisfied to see such a fantastic advert for Malta and its attractions.

However, just imagine my horror when, at the end of the show, I heard the words “sponsored by the Greek Tourism Authority” which was followed by a fantastic feature on Greece. So effectively the resultant impression was that the concert had been held in Greece.

Surely, the Malta Tourism Authority should investigate this stupid gaffe by MTV and make sure it does not happen again.
