Isle of MTV will be going green this year with a new corporate social responsibility scheme that will see 18 tons of waste produced on the night separated for recycling at the Sant Antnin recycling plant.

The scheme was revealed at a press conference earlier today asTourism Minister Karmenu Vella was shown around the stage which has been specially designed for the event being held tomorrow.

Mr Vella said the scheme would be coordinated by waste management company Wasteserv together with Mepa.

“This year we are being conscious of our carbon footprint. Last year saw a lot of waste go unrecycled,” Mr Vella said.

The corporate responsibility scheme will see the first official Isle of MTV merchandise as Air Malta T-shirts will be on sale. All profits will be donated to YMCA. The T-shirts cost €10.

Paintings of last year’s event where also sold last week raising €2500 for which was also donated to the YMCA.
