Senior executives Ernest Barry, Raphael Cauchi and Kenneth Abela have been appointed to the board of directors of Island Caterers Ltd.

Mr Barry, who joins the board as a non-executive director, is general manger of the Radisson Blu Resort, St Julian’s, having held several positions within Island Hotels Group over the past 20 years.

Mr Cauchi, general manager of the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa, Golden Sands, has been named executive director on the board, leading operations of the revitalised Island Caterers.

Mr Cauchi joined Island Hotels Group in 1996 before the the opening of the Radisson Blu Resort, St. Julian’s as food and beverage manager.

He will be overseeing the daily operations and the growth strategies for the group’s catering arm.

Group chief financial controller Kenneth Abela, who also joins the Island Caterers board in a non-executive capacity, joined Island Hotels Group in 1990 and has since held a number of different positions within the finance structure of the group as it developed.

Island Hotels Group Holdings plc chief executive officer Winston J. Zahra said the strength, commitment and experience of the new team heading Island Caterers was an important aspect in developing Malta’s most recognisable catering brand into an even stronger organisation.

Earlier this month, Island Caterers were entrusted with the Oriflame convention for over 4,500 sales people, the largest conference ever held on the island.
