Veteran heavy metal band Iron Maiden's plane, dubbed Ed Force One, was involved in a collision with an airport vehicle at a Chilean airport. Two airport employees were injured.

The incident took place at 9 a.m. local time at the Arturo Merino Benitez Airport in San Felipe, north of the capital Santiago.

"Iron Maiden's 747 was being taken for refuelling when there was an accident, which is being investigated by the criminology laboratory. This caused the plane to go over the tractor pulling it, and caused injuries to two DGAC (Civil Aeronautics General Administration) employees," said police commander, Carlos Adones.

The band's website says they have been told the two injured airport workers were expected to fully recover.

Iron Maiden had just performed at National Stadium in Santiago, Chile, and is scheduled to play in neighbouring Argentina next.

The musicians have told fans not to anticipate disruption to their "Book of Souls" tour.

Iron Maiden released "Book of Souls" late last year which reached Number 1 on the UK charts and Number 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart.
