A bodybuilder from Northern Ireland has died less than 24 hours after competing in the World Championships in Malta.

The Belfast Telegraph and other media reported that Jim Henderson, from Carrickfergus, 54, passed away in his hotel room late yesterday, a day after coming sixth in the championships.

He was taken ill after returning from a meal with his daughter for Father's Day.

He wrote: "Just finished world championships in Malta, 6th in the world! Thanks to everyone who supported me."
