Intralot, the global gaming giant whose Greek subsidary has a majority stakeholding in Maltco Lotteries Ltd, has expanded the World Lottery Association Security Control Standard/ISO/IEC 27001 certification to its Netherlands operation.

Intralot Nederlands BV was certified for all functions related to the operation and support of the lottery system, including gaming system operation activities, technical support, retailer management, ICT operations, management, human resources, compliance, legal and finance.

The certification was awarded to Intralot Group’s managing director for Europe and North Africa Fotis Mavroudis, who is also chairman of Maltco, by WLA president Arch Gleason at the WLA Convention and Trade Show in Brisbane on November 2.

The certification process was conducted by globally recognised body BSI Management Systems.

Mr Gleason said Intralot had the first international vendor to receive WLA Security Control Standards Certification in 2008. Within the framework of continuous improvement, last October the company extended the scope of this certification to Intralot Nederlands BV which operates the lottery systems of Staatsloterij and De Lotto in Holland.

“The WLA certification ratifies Intralot’s excellent technological solutions and our leading position in the lottery sector,” Mr Mavroudis said. “Being certified in The Netherlands, a very demanding and pioneering project, is another token of our expertise in providing to our customers state-of-the-art products and services.”

He added such a prestigious certification is tangible proof of how Maltco Lotteries’ parent demonstrated its continuous commitment to be the worldwide leader by using the latest security technologies.

The World Lottery Association is the leading platform in the global world of gaming. The WLA focuses on offering services that its members and associate members can use to strive for excellence and to grow their business. The services include convention organisation, training and education and the development and continuous improvement of standards for best practice in areas like lottery security and responsible gaming.
