An internet key and some suspicious looking powder in a prisoner’s locker were the only prohibited items found during intensive searches at two prison divisions by the Police Drug Section, the government said.

It said in a statement, steps would be taken against the prisoner who had the internet key and an inquiry will be opened regarding the powder.

The government said no mobiles or alcholic drinks were found .

Home Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia said similar searches will continue to be held regularly whenever the need was felt to ensure security at the facility.

He said he would continue working to destroy all illegal substances, prohibited items and abuse from the facility.
