Russia's Nikolai Kruykov lost his place in the final of the men's high bar final at the world gymnastics championships after the start value of his routine was downgraded using a new video judging system. Kruykov had qualified in sixth after scoring 9.650 on his routine on Tuesday but was downgraded from a 10.0 start value to 9.80, dropping his points to 9.450 for 15th place. The International Gymnastics Federation is using the video review system for the first time in Melbourne and Kruykov is the first gymnast to have his final placing affected by it.
Cricket - England reduce Pakistan to 183-6
England snapped up three late wickets to leave Pakistan 183 for six at the close of play on the fourth day of the second test yesterday, an overall lead of 199 runs. Andrew Flintoff removed Mohammad Yousuf (20) and Shahid Afridi (duck) in successive balls before Steve Harmison dismissed Kamran Akmal for nine. Earlier, England were bowled out for 446 in their first innings after a last-wicket stand of 47 between Shaun Udal and Harmison.
Motorcycling - Honda confirm riders
American Nicky Hayden and Spaniard Dani Pedrosa will ride for Repsol Honda next year, the MotoGP team said. Hayden, 24, will be starting his fourth season with Honda's official team while 20-year-old Pedrosa moves up to the top class after winning three championships in the junior categories.
