Forestals have been entrusted to supply and install eight Promethean interactive whiteboards and accompanying projectors at AM Language Studio in Sliema, the first language school to be fully equipped with the system.

Director of studies Larissa Jonk said in the short time the equipment had been installed in the classrooms there had already been a noticeable improvement all round. "This is the future of the classroom," she said.

"The visual element is very important in a learning environment and the interactive whiteboards have taken this to a completely new level. Also, accessibility to the internet and the array of applications encourage more mobility in the classroom, further contributing to a kinaesthetic quality."

Ms Jonk was also surprised at the teachers' readiness to embrace the system. "The interactive whiteboards have really proven to be very user-friendly and teachers are utilising the product far more than I thought they would in such a short time," she added.

Forestals provide free training on the use of the Promethean interactive whiteboards, with each teacher attending two sessions of three hours each.

Teachers spoke of a very positive impact of the interactive whiteboards, adding that while they support them in their lessons, students enjoy them too.

"The language school market is one sector of the education field that can benefit from the entire Promethean package," said John Farrugia Randon from Forestals.

"Apart from the interactive whiteboards and projectors, this includes a host of training aids, which can be given to the students to assist their learning."

The Promethean whiteboards have built-in speakers, an integrated amplifier and two USB ports ready to receive any peripheral, creating a 360-degree educational environment where any lesson is possible and any topic comes vividly to life.
