A man who admitted stealing €2,300 worth of items from Inter Supporters Club to sustain his drug addiction was yesterday sentenced to 48 months in prison.

Shaun Micallef, 22, from Msida, had been charged in connection with a break-in at the Inter Club Pupi Zanetti Malta headquarters in Msida on December 29. The stolen items included alcoholic drinks, a projector, a TV set and official Inter FC merchandise.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech sentenced the man to 24 months in jail over the burglary but doubled the term because he had also breached the conditions of a 24-month suspended prison term he had been given by another court.

Inspector Fabian Fleri prosecuted, while lawyer Joe Mizzi was defence counsel.
