Nazzareno (Reno) Micallef, an inmate at Corradino prisons, was today ordered to pay compensation to three men whom he injured in a shooting incident in 2002.

The action for damages was filed by Fal-Con Ltd, Henry Falzon, Joseph Falzon, George Falzon, Michael Falzon and Daniel Falzon.

Mr Micallef had been convicted of shooting at them and also damaging a car belonging to the company.

The incident occurred in Mdina Road, Zebbug.

Henry Falzon was seriously injured  and suffered a 28 per cent permanent disability when he lost the fingers of one hand. Mr Micallef was ordered to pay him €33,156.88

Joseph Falzon suffered a disability of four per cent and Mr Justice Joseph Azzopardi ordered Mr Micallef to pay him €13,800 in damages.

The court heard that although Daniel Falzon had not suffered any physical injury he had undergone psychological trauma. Mr Justice Azzopardi established that Mr Micallef was to pay him €4,000 in damages.

The court awarded the company €1,956.09 in view of the damage to the car.

George Falzon was not found to have sustained any damages as a result of the shooting.
