A woman needed hospital treatment after being injured by an escaped pig.

The 61-year-old received wounds to both her legs after the incident in Heathfield Lane, Darlaston, West Midlands, on Wednesday.

West Midlands Police said it attended at 9.26am, after reports of "a pig on the loose".

Officers and an ambulance crew managed to deal with the animal and the "pig was taken back to its pen", according to the force.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find a woman who had suffered injuries to both of her legs.

"Following treatment on scene, she was transported to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment."
