This lucky turtle was saved earlier today during an educational dive held as part of a marine biology course organised by the Watercolours Dive Centre together with Nature Trust.

Dive centre owner Jason Fabri, who saved the juvenile Loggerhead turtle, said it was found some 20 metres offshore stuck to a rock underwater and tangled in about 10 metres of thick fishing line. It had swallowed a hook.

Mr Fabri told timesofmalta.com that the incident must have happened yesterday or today as the turtle did not have any signs of starvation.

He took it ashore and contacted Nature Trust, which he also forms part of, and the turtle was taken to San Lucjan for an operation and rehabilitation. Once healed, it would then be returned to the sea.
