Industrial production decreased by 1.2 per cent in May over the previous month, the NSO said today.

Over the corresponding month last year, working-day adjusted industrial production went down by 0.8 per cent.

Monthly comparison

Compared to the previous month, the index of industrial production decreased by 1.2 per cent to 104.5 points in May. The production of intermediate goods and consumer goods decreased by 1.3 and 2.2 per cent respectively, while the production of energy and capital goods increased by 1.0 and 0.8 per cent respectively.

Annual comparison

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production decreased by 0.8 per cent. The decline of 4.5 per cent in the production of intermediate goods was mitigated by an increase in the production of energy, capital goods and consumer goods. These went up by 3.1, 2.4 and 1.9 per cent respectively.
