The National Archives of Malta will be publishing a book of essays entitled Guardians Of Memory in remembrance of Hella Jean Bartolo Winston.

The book is edited by Charles J. Farrugia, director of the archives. It commemorates a pioneer in the archives sector who passed away four years ago.

Ms Bartolo Winston specialised in records management in the United States and in London and gave a valuable contribution to the records management policy of the Central Bank of Malta where she was employed.

The book is made up of 27 articles divided into four sections, namely Personal Reflections, Exploring Archival Holdings, Archive-based Historical Research and Archival Themes.

Mr Farrugia said the book will bring to light academic works, archival guides and specialist finding aids from research carried out locally and abroad which are of interest to researchers, Melitensia collectors and the public in general.

Guardians of Memory will be issued in June, retailed at €25 hard bound and €20 soft bound. The National Archives is making a pre-publication offer of a reduced price, valid until April 30.

The National Archives can be contacted on 2145 9863 or e-mail customercare.archives@gov.mt.
