A 40-year-old man from Marsascala ended up in court today after allegedly refusing to obey police orders after he was ushered out of a Paceville establishment where he was involved in a brawl.

Jason Genovese was arraigned before Magistrate Gabriella Vella and pleaded not guilty to the charges of assaulting the police, threatening them, disobeying police orders and refusing to give his details.

The incident happened today at around 2.30am, when the accused was ushered out of a Paceville establishment after being involved in a fight.

Once outside, he was told by the police not to approach the establishment. It appears that the accused refused to cooperate, and also refused to give the police his details before resisting arrest.

He was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €2,000.

Inspector Matthew Spagnol prosecuted.
