CSKA Moscow: UEFA Cup champions CSKA Moscow are awaiting the verdict of medical experts before deciding on whether they want to sign injured Turkish international forward Nihat Kahveci from Real Sociedad. Nihat, who tore the cruciate ligament in his left knee earlier this season, underwent specialist medical examinations in Munich and London this week ahead of a likely move to the Russian club.

Solano: Peru midfielder Nolberto Solano could quit international football after Tuesday's goalless draw at home to Uruguay virtually ended his country's chances of reaching the 2006 World Cup. "I think so," the Aston Villa player told reporters when asked if the game had been his last for his country. Solano, 30, was surprisingly left out of Tuesday's match by Freddy Ternero, who took over in May after Paulo Autuori resigned.

Rangers: Rangers have signed midfielder Ian Murray from Hibernian on a three-year contract, the Scottish champions said.

Puyol: Barcelona captain Carles Puyol will miss his club's post-season tour of Japan after sustaining a hairline fracture of his left ankle during Spain's 1-1 draw against Bosnia on Wednesday. Puyol was forced to leave the pitch after just seven minutes when he suffered the injury during his first challenge of the World Cup qualifier.
