Ivory Coast: Frenchman Gerard Gili has been named as assistant to Ivory Coast coach Henri Michel. Gili, 53, is a former coach of Marseille and Egypt. He will join up with the Ivorian squad for a friendly against Italy tomorrow.

Galis: Slovakia coach Dusan Galis will be missing from the bench for the second leg of their World Cup play-off against Spain tomorrow after receiving a one-match ban from FIFA. Galis was sent off in the first leg on Saturday for protesting against decisions to an assistant referee.

Kahn: Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will consider extending his international career beyond next year's World Cup. "It's not at all certain that I'll call it quits after the World Cup," the 36-year-old Kahn said yesterday. "I want to see how I feel. At the moment I'd like to play two more years."

Forlan: Uruguay arrived for tomorrow's World Cup play-off decider against Australia yesterday without striker Diego Forlan. Forlan lasted only 17 minutes of Uruguay's 1-0 first leg victory in Montevideo on Saturday with a recurrence of a hamstring injury. RICKEN: Borussia Dortmund midfielder Lars Ricken will miss the rest of the season after becoming the fourth player at the club to suffer a cruciate knee ligament rupture. The 28-year-old former German international suffered the injury to his right knee in training yesterday and will need six months to recover.

Clichy: Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy could be out of action for several weeks after suffering a suspected broken foot during the France vs England Under-21 play-off on Friday. The Premier League club's website gave no details of the injury but said the player would miss today's second leg in Nancy. Arsenal were already without their England left back Ashley Cole, who broke his foot last month.
