Cafu: Brazilian defender Cafu is out of Milan's Champions League game against Fenerbahce tomorrow after picking up a muscle strain in the defeat by Fiorentina at the weekend. Cafu has not been named in Milan's travelling squad for the Group E match in Istanbul and coach Carlo Ancelotti now has a problem over the right-back slot given that Dutch defender Jaap Stam is suspended.

Asian Awards: Manchester United's Park Ji-sung and other top European-based players have been ruled out of contention for Asian Player of the Year because they cannot attend an awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur. The Asian Football Confederation said yesterday its three finalists from 10 shortlisted nominees were Saudi Arabians Sami Al Jaber and Hamad Al Montashari along with Uzbekistan's Maksim Shatskikh.

Casillas: Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has renewed speculation about his future after saying he had only a 60 per cent chance of staying at the Bernabeu at the end of the season. Spanish media have said that Premiership sides Man. United and Arsenal are both interested in Casillas.

Bayern Munich: Midfielders Michael Ballack and Mehmet Scholl will miss Bayern Munich's Champions League Group A clash with Rapid Vienna today and Brazilian winger Ze Roberto is a serious doubt. Ballack and Scholl are both struggling with a thigh injury and will not be fit in time.

Hleb: Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb has been voted Belarus's Player of the Year in a nationwide poll of the country's soccer experts conducted by the sports daily Pressbol. Hleb received 200 first-place votes out of 303 respondents, the newspaper said yesterday. It was the third top award for the 24-year-old playmaker. He also won in 2002 and 2003.
