Points Docked: Uruguayan authorities have confirmed their decision to dock 12 points from Penarol after a gang of the club's supporters stabbed a rival fan to death outside the stadium. Thirty-five-year old Hector da Cunha, a supporter of Cerro, was attacked at a bus stop by a gang of some 15 Penarol supporters after the two sides met on March 11.

Vieri: Monaco striker Christian Vieri will be out for up to four weeks with a knee injury. The Italian picked up the injury during his side's 1-1 Ligue 1 draw against Paris SG last Sunday.

Xavi: Barcelona midfielder Xavi says he is on the verge of returning to full training after almost four months out of action because of a serious knee injury. Xavi looked as though he might miss the rest of the season after he tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in training at the start of December.

Racism: Germany's DFB will investigate a match in the east German city of Halle in which a Nigerian player was the target of racist taunts. Leipzig defender Adebowale Ogungbure was taunted by spectators throughout the match and assaulted as he left the pitch. He countered by making a Nazi salute.
