Chevanton: Sevilla striker Ernesto Chevanton will be out of action for between three and five weeks with a back strain. The 26-year-old international has a stress injury to his fifth vertebra and will miss the club's UEFA Cup first round first leg tie against Greek side Atromitos.

Staunton: Ireland coach Steve Staunton has been given a one-match touchline ban by UEFA after being dismissed during Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Germany in a Euro 2008 Group D qualifier. UEFA said that Staunton will have to watch the Oct. 7 clash against Cyprus from the stands.

Carrick: Michael Carrick will make his full debut for league leaders Man. United against former club Tottenham at Old Trafford today, manager Alex Ferguson said yesterday. Carrick joined United from Tottenham in July but is yet to start a match after sustaining an ankle injury in pre-season.

Joaquin: Valencia fans will have to wait before seeing Joaquin make his debut for the club after coach Quique Sanchez Flores left him out of the squad for the clash away to Atletico Madrid today. The Spain winger completed a 25-million euro move from Real Betis last week, but was unable to train with his new team mates until Thursday due to international duty.

Shakhtar: Shakhtar Donetsk will be without goalkeeper Bohdan Shust, defender Dmitry Chigrinsky and midfielder Matuzalem for Tuesday's Champions League opener against Roma. All three have recovered from injury but were not yet match fit.
