Carbone: Italian forward Benito Carbone has signed a four-week guest contract to play for Sydney FC, the A-League club said yesterday. The 35-year-old former Inter, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough player will make his debut against Adelaide United on Monday.

Borowski: Germany midfielder Tim Borowski injured his left leg in Werder Bremen's Champions League match against Barcelona on Wednesday and will miss the next two to three weeks. Barcelona scored a late equaliser in the Group A match that ended 1-1.

Germany: The German FA yesterday said it had hired former national team hockey coach Bernhard Peters as an "external advisor" two weeks after he led his team to a second straight field hockey World Cup. Peters, 46, was long the choice of former coach Juergen Klinsmann for the job of sporting director to create new structures and break up the association's set patterns.

Dynamo Kiev: Dynamo Kiev goalkeeper Olexander Rybka will be out for at least three weeks with a head injury. The 19-year-old suffered concussion in the second half of Dynamo's Champions League Group E match at Real Madrid on Tuesday after clashing heads with Sergio Ramos.

Dragutinovic: Serbia's Spa-nish coach Javier Clemente has recalled Sevilla's Ivica Dragutinovic to his 20-man squad for the Euro 2008 Group A qualifiers at home to Belgium on Oct. 7 and Armenia four days later. Dragutinovic was one of the players dropped by Clemente after he took over from Ilija Petkovic.
