Terry: Chelsea and England captain John Terry has had back surgery, his club said yesterday. The central defender, who has missed the last four matches for his club, underwent the operation in France following consultation between the Chelsea medical department and a leading neurosurgical specialist. The club did not say how long they expected Terry to be out of action.

Venue change: Russian champions CSKA Moscow will host Israel's Maccabi Haifa in the UEFA Cup in Vladikavkaz on Feb. 14. Sevilla: Zenit St Petersburg striker Alexander Kerzhakov has signed a 5-1/2-year contract with Spanish side Sevilla, the Russian club said yesterday. Wigan: Sweden defender Andreas Granqvist will join English club Wigan Athletic on loan until June 30 next year. The 21-year-old was captain of Helsingborg last season as they finished in fourth place in the league and won the Cup. Pressley: Charlton Athletic are hoping to sign former Hearts captain Steven Pressley to help in their fight against relegation. "There is a good chance he will be at Charlton and it will be a good addition if we can secure him for nothing," manager Alan Pardew said. Pressley left Hearts earlier this month following an "amicable agreement". He had been suspended by the Scottish club after criticising the way it was being run.
