Corini: Veteran midfielder Eugenio Corini has signed a deal to join Torino. The 36-year-old had been without a club since Palermo refused to extend his contract. Corini will line up alongside ex-Palermo team-mate Simone Barone for new Torino manager Walter Novellino next season.

Alves: Bruno Alves's agent has dismissed speculation about a move to Aston Villa by revealing that the Portuguese defender is set to stay at Porto. Alves, 25, has been tracked by Villa boss Martin O'Neill but has expressed a desire to play Champions League football, which Villa cannot offer.

No refs: The African Nations Cup qualifier between Lesotho and Uganda, scheduled for Maseru yesterday, has been postponed until tomorrow because the referees failed to arrive. Officials said the Tanzania trio had missed their flight to Maseru.

African Cup: Cameroon qualified for the African Nations Cup finals as they kept up their 100 per cent record in the qualifiers with a 2-1 home triumph over Rwanda yesterday. Morocco, Tunisia and Angola have also qualified for the 2008 finals.

Darren Bent: Charlton striker Darren Bent looks set to reject a move to Liverpool in favour of a switch to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
