Two Maltese martial artists have just represented the SKSM Karate Malta at the WUKO champion-ships which were held in Imperia, Italy.

The event attracted competitors from all parts of the globe but the young Maltese duo, Lucienne Galea and Andrew Galea, were not overwhelmed by the occasion as they returned home with two medals, one silver and one bronze, to put their organisation, and country, in the spotlight at the presentations ceremony.

Lucienne Galea finished second in the girls Kata Masters event and Andrew Galea third in Kumite. Both had difficult rounds to clear before reaching the bouts where medals were contested.

At the championships, they were accompanied by coach Chris Galea.

SKSM Karate Malta will now shift focus to another international tournament as in the next few days some 15 members from the school will participate in a competition in Germany.

In March, the school will also host the Malta Open and the participation of 12 other nations has already been registered.
