Earlier this year the two main television providers complained about the “illegal” use of Dreamboxes and other means of accessing satellite transmissions. Yet according to the front page report of December 10, both Go and Melita have been transmitting the popular Living and Comedy Central channels without having the rights to do so. If true, this is chutzpah most worthy of note. Indeed some might argue that hypocrisy knows no bounds.

If the companies “acquire” the channels they transmit by the means suggested in their report, one wonders why the packages on offer are not cheaper.

There are only a few channels worth watching since the usual fare is a poor diet of uninspiring programmes regurgitated ad nauseam.

Can viewers be confident that such channels will not be removed for similar reasons in the future? And would not more of us be better off acquiring the means to access satellite transmissions directly rather than giving a middleman undeserved profits?

Perhaps a representative of Go – Melita, it seems, rarely condescends to reply to criticism – would care to use these pages to explain and reassure their customers on the future cost and quality of service it aims to provide.
